Microsoft 365 Experiences Outage: Teams and Calls Affected

Microsoft 365 Outage Disrupts Teams and Other Services, Causes Call Failures

Microsoft is currently investigating a new Microsoft 365 outage impacting Teams users, causing call failures and authentication issues. The outage, which began more than an hour ago, has resulted in hundreds of reports on monitoring platforms like Downdetector, with users facing widespread disruptions.

Teams Call Failures and Authentication Issues

According to a new service alert (TM1022107) in the Microsoft 365 admin center, users may be unable to receive calls placed through Teams-provisioned auto attendants and call queues.

Microsoft has acknowledged the issue and is actively analyzing service telemetry and call metadata to understand the scope of the problem and determine the next steps. However, the company has yet to specify which regions are most affected or provide details on the root cause of the outage.

Reports Indicate Broader Microsoft 365 Disruptions

Despite Microsoft's initial assessment that the incident only impacts Teams, users report a more extensive disruption affecting other Microsoft 365 services, including Outlook, OneDrive, and Exchange.

One affected customer stated, "It affects multiple services, including Teams, Exchange, SharePoint, Bing, and so on. So, it's bigger than this." Another user added, "Can only access Outlook and Teams via mobile, and only accessing my 365 emails via the Outlook app will not load on Apple’s native mail app."

Additionally, Microsoft updated its service health status page to confirm that customers in Canada are experiencing authentication and connectivity issues when accessing multiple Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, Teams, and the Microsoft 365 admin center.

Recent Microsoft 365 Outages

This incident follows another Microsoft 365 outage over the weekend that affected Outlook and Exchange Online authentication, along with degraded functionality for Teams and Power Platform. Microsoft attributed that outage to a coding issue in a recent update to its authentication systems.

Furthermore, a Monday advisory revealed that Exchange Online users were still experiencing problems accessing their calendars and email messages through the iOS native mail app. Last week, Microsoft had also resolved an authentication issue caused by a DNS change affecting Entra ID authentication for customers using Seamless SSO and Entra Connect Sync.
